An Overview of Behaviour Illness And Care Seeking

Behaviour illness is conditions that affect your thinking, mood, feeling, and behaviour. They can be chronic (long-lasting) or occasional. They can affect an individual’s ability to relate to others and function each day.

Behaviour disorders or illnesses involve a pattern of disruptive behaviours in an individual that may last for at least six months. They can cause problems at home, in school, at work, and in social situations. Almost everyone exhibits some of these behaviours at times, but disorders like this may lead to mental health anxiety and can be severe.

There are seven types of mental or behaviour disorders-

  • Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), and phobias.

  • Depression, bipolar, and other mood disorders

  • Eating disorders

  • Personality disorders

  • Post-traumatic stress disorders

  • Psychotic disorders including schizophrenia

Mental disorders also include:

  • Inattention

  • Hyperactivity

  • Impulsivity

  • Defiant Behavior

  • Drug Use

  • Criminal Activity

Mental disorders are common, and more than half of all humans will be diagnosed with a mental illness at some time in their life. Diagnosis and treatment depend on which mental disorder you have and how serious it is. You and your health provider will work on a treatment plan tailored just for you.

The treatment for mental health anxiety usually involves counselling, therapy along some medicines. You can talk to a psychiatrist, and you will get counselling, group sessions, and activities for mental health improvement.
